Marus Bridge Junction (ex roundabout) - Page 7 Empty Marus Bridge Junction (ex roundabout)

First topic message reminder :

I have been through it a few times now and have started coming to some concloosions about it, firstly the right turn into Poolstock Lane seems to operate in the same way as the right turn into Sainsburys, in that because traffic waiting to turn right at Sainsburys, invariably backs down the duel carriageway, blocking the right hand lane of the duel carriageway, when the lights operate to allow traffic to turn right into Sainsburys, the lights seem to remain on green until all the traffic as cleared the slip road and the same seems to be happening at the right turn into Poolstock Lane, the lights and sensors in the road allow most, if not all of the traffic wishing to turn right into Poolstock Lane to do so, before changing back to red and also and this should please tomplum (but it probably won't) when the traffic is flowing into Poolstock Lane from the duel carriageway, the traffic lights are on green for traffic turning left from Poolstock Lane on to the duel carriageway cheers

I suppose like gaffer suggested that could be improved by building a proper slip road from Poolstock Lane on to the duel carriageway on the land available there, but they (the powers that bee) want to discourage traffic from using Poolstock Lane and instead want the traffic to use the duel carriageway through Goose Green instead.

So I think the losers are traffic which uses Highfield Grange Avenue, which is folk who live in Winstanley and traffic which uses Winstanley as a rat run, well traffic shouldn't use Winstanley as a rat run and folk who live in Winstanley, well you shouldn't have moved to Winstanley should you, because in any case it's full of scousers affraid

Winners seem to be traffic coming down from the motorway towards Wigan and to a lesser extent traffic heading away from Wigan on the duel carriageway through Goose Green, because that traffic as to wait for traffic turning right into Poolstock Lane, but when new link road is built, there should be a lot less traffic wanting to go down Poolstock Lane, so that should speed things up for traffic heading away from Wigan Smile

they've moved the kerb coming out of Poolstock lane onto the joke of a slipway, over about 2 feet, Its completely fruitless and won't make any differance at all to the backed up traffic on Poolstock Lane, They've also jiggled the kerbs about on Highfield Grange road, I can't see any point in this work, Marus Bridge Junction (ex roundabout) - Page 7 2027234125

Why is it quicker to go east west than north south at the lights?

That junction will only work as intended, when the link road is built (as intended) and as to how the transformation of the roundabout into a traffic light controlled junction as affected your life, will depend on how you use the junction, in that if yoo approach the junction via Poolstock Lane, then you will find more hold ups, than when it was a roundabout, if you use Warrington Road, then you will find it a lot better, than when it was a roundabout.

I have said before that in my opinion there is more danger at the junction, because traffic is moving through there a lot faster, than when it was a roundabout, but as those statistics show, maybe it is not as dongerous as topics like this one suggest it is Laughing

Residents have disputed data showing the emergency services were called to a controversial Wigan junction only a handful of times. Marus Bridge junction has become known as an accident blackspot since it was converted from a roundabout to traffic light-controlled crossroads. But data given to the Post under the Freedom Of Information Act showed the ambulance service had only been there once since 2014 and the police had attended twice.

malipulation of facts, emergency vehicles in attendance do not always mean there was a 999 call, therefore it will not be logged as such, the real facts are,

there have been MORE  accidents since it became traffic lights, full stop,

pipe, smoke. in put, that, your, and,it,,,,,rearrange the words to form a well known phrase,

On about the noo road, there seems to be increasing activity on the route, there is drilling going on at the junction of Chapel Lane and Poolstock where the canal bridge will be widened and about an hour ago I noticed a pick up truck on the old railway line were it crossed Poolstock Lane, going towards the flashes, so he was either site investigating or fly tipping and over the last couple of weeks, I have noticed this sort of stuff going on...

That was to spray for Giant Hogweed. There was a van and a pick up there, they were conversing.....They weren't spraying when I walked past. Mind, they aren't supposed to spray any chemicals on anything but a calm day.

That does't sound good, If they are killing weeds that suggests that no great big earth moving vehicles will be going down there too soooon, they kill weeds faster and better than a spray bottle,  Crying or Very sad

So the clowns are too inept to understand that the cars won't need to do U-turns if they cut into the grass barrier and put a slip road in for cars to turn right into Fulbeck ave. Must be a ruling against employing highways staff with common sense.
