Customers at the now-defunct Three Sisters Racing Circuit in Wigan have been given fresh hope that the track could re-open. The race course closed suddenly earlier this week after its parent company went bust. But the Post has learnt that Wigan Council is working on a rescue package and officials believe the circuit does have a future. A town hall spokesman said: “Following the announcement of The Racing School Ltd being placed into liquidation the council as freeholder of the Three Sisters Race Circuit is working with our tenant Motor Sport Management Ltd to ensure that the facility is re-opened as soon as practical.”

If you're heading down to the circuit on Sunday and you want to get closer to the action, Wigan Motor Club need your help.
Volunteer marshals are an important part of a motorsport event. You are the eyes and ears on the track, keeping drivers and spectators safe and ensuring the day runs smoothly.
You don't need any previous experience as a marshal, just a good sense for safety and a willingness to help.
If you are interested, head to the scrutineering bay before 9AM to sign on before the marshals briefing.
Food and drink will be provided by WDMC ( although we'd recommended you take a few snacks with you)

Update from PDMCC
STATEMENT REGARDING PDMCC ROUND 2 MEETING - 18TH JUNE 2017
The operating company which runs Three Sisters circuit has gone into receivership which has resulted in the closure of the track until business affairs have been dealt with.
There has been a small amount of activity at the circuit, however it is understood that this is due to be brought to an end once the winding-up process has been completed in the coming weeks.
The circuit leaseholders are actively sourcing a new operating company to resume activities at the circuit and re-open the facility to the public, and to clubs such as PDMCC wishing to use the venue to hold race meetings.
In the meantime, there is uncertainty as to whether the new operators will be in place by the time PDMCC’s Round 2 event is scheduled to take place. As a result, the club committee have decided to cancel the June meeting and focus on subsequent dates. Any entrants will be credited for their entry fees.
Please be aware that PDMCC is not directly linked with Three Sisters circuit – financially or otherwise, except for the sole purpose of hiring the venue to run race meetings. PDMCC as a club is still very much alive and kicking, and the committee will continue to act upon any relevant information that allows the continuation of our meetings and championships for 2017.
The committee will keep members informed of any future developments and updates will be posted on social media and emailed to members as and when required. Please keep an eye out for these updates on the Facebook page and inboxes.
It is hoped that the new operating company will be in place soon, and our 2017 championship can resume in July. In the meantime thank you for your patience, understanding and support, and we hope to have news of the July meeting in the next few weeks.

Vice Chairman/Press Officer

But now Driveme.net Limited, which provides driving experiences at two other circuits, has stepped in to help those who are affected. It is offering to exchange vouchers for driving experiences at Three Sisters for the chance to drive on race circuits in Stafford and Anglesey instead. The firm has also hired Three Sisters on Monday, July 31 so that people will have an opportunity to drive there. And it may not be the last time that Driveme.net Limited hosts an event at the circuit.

Hope is on the horizon for a Wigan sporting landmark which has been closed for weeks after the operating company went bust. Staff at the Three Sisters Race Circuit in Ashton have announced that there will be frequent events taking place throughout the summer at the site, which closed in early May due to a stifled cash flow and £2m of debt.

As a major update of where we are up to with our investigations, here are just a few examples of the complaints we have.
As you may be aware, our representatives lodged our complaints with Wigan Council.
We believe there are multiple breaches of the lease, some of which the council have already acknowledged.
They have additionally acknowledged complaints with the business structure and are investigating further.
Some complaints are more appropriate with other authorities, including the inland revenue, the insolvency service and companies house.
We have brought to attention significant losses for the inland revenue and multiple local businesses. The insolvency service are being made aware of the following concerns.
Variations of names of directors registered with companies House
Evidence to believe repeated cases of phoenix company fraud including the most recent case in 2017.
Inter-company loans
Director shuffling
Asset reassignment
The same insolvency company being utilised for each of the failed companies.
Major additional Concerns;
The liquidation in 2015 unfortunately resulted in none of the creditors receiving any reimbursement.
Our interpretation of the most recent insolvency documentation suggests that the creditors in the 2017 case will also receive no payment.
There seems to our unqualified interpretation, a re-occurance to this unfortunate situation.
In order to verify our concerns. We have had an in independent chartered account examine some of the documentation. The accountant has brought to light potentially even more serious misconduct.
As this situation is escalating quite significantly we are cooperating with the relevant authorities and we hope for a swift resolution.
We hope our interpretation of these serious concerns is incorrect but we fear they are well founded.
Yet again we strongly encourage a representative of the company to get in contact to offer explanation.
We are yet to have a single official correspondence.
As a group, we are re-evaluating our direction. We may consider supporting a campaign to expose misconduct entirely and push for a replacement operator.
We feel it's reasonable to expect an operator to:
Manage their business correctly
Operate transparently
Manage their taxes and debt
Be a responsible employer
Actively invest in the venue
Maintain the facilities
Adhere to the lease
-------------------
To clarify, this is neither the entirety or the end of our research into this matter. We feel it's in the interest of the public and the Motorsport community as a whole that what's occurred is made clear. We feel correspondence from MCM or any of its directors would help massively at this time.
Finally, the COUNCIL have assured us the the venue will remain a track, even given a change of tenant.

PRESS RELEASE

Friday 15th December 2017

THREE SISTERS RACE CIRCUIT ANNOUNCES
NEW CAPITAL INVESTMENT

Motorsport Circuit Management Ltd (“MCM”) the operator of Three Sisters Circuit announces today that it has committed to spend £210,000 on the complete resurfacing of the race track in Wigan and a further £60,000 on associated circuit safety works, as well as committing £53,000 to a new fleet of Cadet and Junior Karts for 8 to 15 year olds.

This investment sees the complete upgrade to the track itself, and the creation of a small Bambino circuit for 6 to 7 year olds for use in the summer and separate circuits for 8 to 16 year olds.

Commenting on this investment the company’s new CEO Bill Sisley said:
“I am delighted to have secured this investment which marks the start of the restoration of this famous venue. I’ve come out of retirement, after a lifelong career in operating motorsport circuits, and my aim, along with the new Management team who also have many years’ experience, is to make Three Sisters “the jewel of the north” again. I am looking forward to working closely with the local community and Wigan Borough Council to develop the Circuit to its full potential and expand the karting activities available at the circuit. Weather permitting the asphalt contractors will be on site on 8 January 2018”.

The Circuit will therefore be closed from 8th January 2018 for period of [15] days.

Good evening.

It has been exactly 1 year since the shocking closure of the circuit and subsequent liquidation of The Racing School.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our followers for the support throughout our efforts in pressuring the continued improvement works to the circuit

We feel at this stage, the combination of your support and the efforts by the people involved in the page have contributed to creating a situation in which the management have been forced to make immediate significant improvement to the venue, starting with a complete re-surface of the circuit earlier in the year.

It is fantastic for the venue that clearly, fundamental investment is being made to bring the circuit up to the standard that it should be and that plans are in place to continue with these improvements.

The circuit is back open and hosting events and it is great to see the venue busy again. We feel that one of the new directors in particular, Chris Pullman, seems to have made some good decisions and is obviousuly working hard to improve the circuits image. The circuit is already benefitting from his presence. Furthermore, circuit manager, Ian Makinson is clearly now having direct dialogue with customers which is improving relations and confidence in the circuit.

It has been very difficult for us, despite being threatened with a class legal suite, to continue to monitor the developments and report what we feel is important and relevant. There have been very unethical decisions and questionable legal challanges made by the senior directors, in our mind, against some of the club users of the circuit, ourselves and ex members of staff.
These clumsy, kneejerk scare tactics have both turned into a public relations disaster for the circuit and exposed some of the bigger problems within. As a group we did not expect to be reporting on such behaviour.

Looking ahead we anticipate the improvements to the venue will continue. We will vigorously support the investment and reinvention of the venue, operating in a safe and ethical manner.

We wholly support this renewed emphasis on safety while supporting new and exciting forms of motorsport. Amongst the clear efforts by Chris Pullman and other new staff we see a bright future ahead.

So we are using this oppertunity to conclude our efforts for the foreseeable future, in doing so we will be changing the title of the group from "save three sisters race circuit" to "three sisters ( racing school insolvency 2017)" and will leave the page up for reference for as long as we see fit.

Many thanks to everyone for your support
