Find a number less than 100 that is increased by one-fifth of its value when its digits are reversed.

In an assessment the first 17 people scored an average of three points each. After a further 30 people had taken the assessment the average score rose to nine points each. What was the average number of points scored by the last 30 people only?

Average = Total number of points divided by number of people.

Therefore total points = Average x number of people.

Total points for the first 17 = 17 x 3 = 51

Total points for first 47 = 47 x 9 = 423

Average for last 30 = 423 – 51 / 30 = 372 / 30

Average for last 30 = 12.4

Well, I found that strangely easy and straightforward.

I may be wrong of course Embarassed Laughing

Bob on MYG

98

2+3=2*[3+(2-1)]=8
3+7=3*[7+(3-1)]=27
4+5=4*[5+(4-1)]=32
5+8=5*[8+(5-1)]=60
6+7=6*[7+(6-1)]=72
therefore
7+8=7*[8+(7-1)]=98
x+y=x[y+(x-1)]=x^2+xy-x

4 and 4 = 816

The first figure is the sum of the two numbers, and the following

numbers are the product of the two numbers.

A car meter reading shows 72927 miles a palindromic number.
what is the minimum number of miles you would need to travel to see another palindromic number on the car meter reading?

Assume you are using a basic calculator and press the numbers in the order shown, replacing each question mark with a mathematical sign.

Plus, minus, multiply and divide can each be used once only.

In which order should they be used to score 24?

2 ? 8 ? 6 ? 9 ? 3 = 24

2-8/6+9x3= 24 as a calculator will do the steps in order.
