To be honest I refer to my horses Farrier by both terms. Sometimes he’s my blacksmith and sometimes he’s my Farrier but most times he’s just Steve Very Happy

I think a blacksmith, apart from making horseshoes, is also a general metal worker.

and can make hinges, brackets, railings etc, but a farrier is specifically a horse shoer.
