You may or may not know why your last post was just a brilliant thing to say.

Pavlov would ring a bell when the dog was about to be fed.

The dog associated the sound of the bell with food.

After a few days the dog would salivate when the bell was rung before the food arrived.

That is known as the 'conditioned reflex'.
