New Link Rd

on Thu Feb 28 2019, 14:33
This spectacular image gives a bird’s-eye view of how Wigan’s new link road is taking shape. Reader Brian King’s drone took to the skies to capture this telling snapshot of how the route south of the town centre aims to relieve pressures on its groaning infrastructure. For those struggling to get their bearings: Wigan town centre is to the left, Marus Bridge to the right and Poolstock Lane is halfway up the picture. Beyond that the A49 link road can be seen heading across the northern side of Scotman’s Flash after which it will join Westwood Way, connecting to Poolstock and Chapel Lane.

They may just manage to squeeze a few shops, and industrial estate and a couple of hundred houses on the land adjacent without damaging the area of scientific importance.

I am going to suggest to Jones Bros. that they fill in the Scotsmans! Loads of land then! Very Happy

They are building shops on the site of the old Crooked Wheel Pub and the car parks which surrounded it and that as come from the pharmacy, chemist on the precinct, they have been told that they will be complete in about two years time and the shops can continue to trade there until then and they the will be given first refusal for one of the new shop yoonits, but I wonder what the rents will be ....

The old precinct will then be demolished and new houses will be built on the site (well they are not going to build old houses are they) clown
