I know you have to keep a net over the water to sto[p herons stealing the fish, as for size, the bigger the better.

you're welcome KPC, its only about 35 mins drive, get off the M55 at the fleetwood junction and follow the fleetwood signs, Its on your left hand side just before poulton , its well signposted, Its worth a trip just to see the fish, there are hundreds of them from £10 each to £5.000 each,

Called in there today Tom, as I was working in the Fylde area.
They have advised on a bottom drain with the filter due to volume of water
When I get up to this can you have a look as it as to be plumbed in ( I've not a clue what I'm on about or they mean etc ) but you will know what has to be done
Called in around 10am and it was really hot in there, not sure how you found it

OOOhh  How lovely.  How do people with ponds in their gardens get on in Winter.  How do the fish survive in a frozen pond.?

Think only the top freezes so as long as there's a part that's still open the Fish can still survive.

Or I could be completely wrong.

That's right, Tem. Stick a football in the water to stop it competely freezing over.
Get a net on it to prevent herons taking the fish, and leaves from getting in the pond.

A heron won't take the middle one on the picture that's 46-48 cm, but they do take them if no netting is on

a neighbour had a pond, it gradually lost all it's fish. He blamed cats, then one early morning he woke up and saw a heron sat by his pond.
He filled the thing in after that.

I have a garden pond it's only six foot by eight foot nowhere near big enough for Koi Carp i put two ghost koi in about three years ago they were six inches long when i put them in and eighteen inches long when i gave them to a chap with a twenty foot pond he tells me they are still growing,so be carefull which type you get.
