First topic message reminder :
The Goose Green to Westwood Park Link Road, is due to start construction soon and I know that Tomplum is really looking forward to work on the new road starting and mac said in another topic that they have been pegging out for the road bridge over the stream, so this is a plan of the new road, which has been made by a company called Tekla
Sniffy Brook Bridge

Entire Road

He was in a white van and was parked on pavement and road opposite the bottom car park at the shops and was wearing a hi-vis green vest and he was taking photos of the main road, in both directions with a phone, he looked to be part of the same firm who have been digging on the embankment.

If you look down the side of the fencing, you can see that they have dug an access road through to the compound at the side of Worsley Mesnes Drive, next to the council canoo place and the construction firm doing it is a firm called Bethell Construction
http://www.bethell.co.uk/
At the canal bridge (New Lion Bridge) at the entrance to Westwood Park, which is to be widened and on the side which is to be widened, they have been drilling there for over a week now and I am wondering if they are not just drilling for core samples, but are they drilling and piling and are actually putting in the foundations for the bridge extension.
But council website says that construction will be starting in 2018

Side of the Tippings is an entrance, from there you can stroll across the fields to the path. If there wasn't, there would have been when I strolled over.

Best thing wot could happen is that when they get parallel with the main part of the Worsley Mesnes Council Estate (here) their diggering uncovers a massive WW2 bomb
Because during war those nasty krauts used to try and bomb the railway line, because it was actually the main line between Scouseland and Mankland in them days, the line into and through Wallgate Station, was actually a branch line, but they missed the railway line and hit St Pauls cemetery instead ....
Or did they?
So bomb is found and estate is evacuated, but before the UXB squad get here, the bloody thing goes off and blows all of estate up
It does Wigan Council a favour, because they can start with a clean slate and regenerate all of estate without having to worry about getting rid of tenants and demolishing properties

The new road to Wigan,
Is a book i'm going to write
much better than that of Orwells
cos he's was a load o shite,
It'll tell of the Wigan spirit
the rugby team we've got
and the folks who worked and lived here,
when the cooling towers were red hot
The road will bring us business
for the workers and the skivers
but the people who are most happy
are the Wigan taxi drivers,

I walk my dog along that path
every single day,
and soon I won,t want to
When its Sir bob's way.
there'll be fumes and rushing traffic
thats enough to send you deaf
So i'll need another pathway
To exercise lill' Jeff,
every single day,
and soon I won,t want to
When its Sir bob's way.

ahh sheeeesh, I missed that, The good thing about the ole grey wistle test is, Its better now than it was then.
In the day bob Harris had a slow drone pon faced humour that I did't get then, plus the groups/bands he presented were not so well known,
Today I do now understand Bobs delivery and like it, also many of the bands he presented turned out to be top bands,
