The Warburton Bridge ... was built in 1863, at a cost of £550, recoverable by toll to be paid at the toll house still extant.
Wonder what the cost of wages is for the staffers at this bridge???

There are three staff, an incredibly old lady who was the first member of staff in 1863, and two slow gets.

built in 1863 and still scavenging a few bob, dont tell the scousers they will never stop paying for their tunnels.
getting back to topic,if those bone headed worsley mesnes councillors who spent a small fortune putting speed humps all over "their" territory, without asking more than 6 people who attended their consultation ah ah on the matter.they could have put the money to better use like pot holes. more folk would be inclined to have a better view of said boneheads Kelly, holland and Rotherham, though I do think former Cllr Baldwin may have been in on that waste of money.

That's where they should put the money. A chap driving a Ferrari sued Peterborough council (and won) for £10, 000 because a pot hole damaged a wheel. Think what damages councils will have to fork out when riders get thrown off their bikes because of them, and pot holes cost an average of £50 to be filled in.

over the Summer the roads that were "top dressed" with chippings and are now a complete mess, are being re-done by the contractors at no cost to the Council...

Golborne Road in Ashton has now been resurfaced. At least the bit from Wotton Drive to Stubby Cross buzz stop.
