I worked for the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority at Risley in the early 1980’s, and would go to Windscale / Sellafield on a regular basis.
Calder Hall which is next to the Sellafield site is the world's first commercial nuclear power station to generate electricity on an industrial scale.
I got to get a guided tour of Calder Hall on one of my trips up there.
It is currently being decommissioned.
