Library Books
on Sun Mar 22 2020, 02:04
Handy way of spreading lurgy.
I've a couple due back, but want to keep hold of them (renew them) under the current circumstances.
You can only renew online so many times, then you have to take the books in to prove you still have them, in person, so to speak. Which makes sense.
I'm guessing at this difficult time, people don't want to be taking books from the library into their homes. Let alone staff wanting to handle returns. So demand for loaned-out books can't be too prominent. Or any books for that matter.
Will the overdue penalty system be suspended?
Or, when I come out of suspended animation, will the money I saved by avoiding the Boil's Head, be far exceeded by the library fines which I owe t'council?
Seems a different world to the one in which the likes of Mac thought nothing of thumbing through potentially disease-ridden nak mags found in bushes

Put library books in the microwave for 15 secs and they will be safe to handle.
Ruined but safe.

no fines for late returns as Libraries are closed until further notice, so you can stop panicking...

I get all my library books online and download them to my Kobo. No annual fees and no fines as they are taken off me after three weeks. They have had the system for a good while now. We can have up to fifty books and if the one you want isn’t available you can order it and they notify you when it is available.

Good thinking, that man. I see where you were coming from, Mester. Your suggestion has given me inspiration. I'll put them in plastic bags, and store them in the freezer for the duration.

I used to have a Library, or inner sanctum as we used to call it.
