Thank you Vixen it was a challenge and not something I'd want to do everyday, I was hoping Boris would have kept his promise to make more temp cycle lanes, then if they get used enough, make them permanent , Aw well, The Good side is,
The 'fairweather' canal towpath users seem to have gone back in their cars now , Very Happy

well of course, it would never do for everyone to enjoy the same things, I could never work in a skool full of screaming kids, nor study enough for the privilege of being there, Enjoying what you do is so important But, life goes quicker, too quick, so maybe do some things you don't like to slow it down a bit, Very Happy

back to the good ole British Summer rain, no bike riding today, No gardening niether, Plan C,

Plan C is, get my bus pass updated, I got my bus pass renewed recently and it needs updating to show I paid the £10 charge to use the trains, To do this I must present it at Wigan Bus station and have it entered on the computer, Why they cant do this with the renewal, no one knows,

Tom,just to tell you to be on your guard when biking,my youngest lad is an avid bike rider, does hundreds of miles but was out last Wednesday when a motorist drove too near him,my lad had to swerve out of his way, lost his balance five foot in the air said someone at the back of him, broke his collar bone,is in terrible pain might have to have it broke. again,it isn't healing, might have to have it broke again and a plate in it..the motorist at the back of him just missed driving over his head..his helmet is broke so is his bike..so just be on your toes Tom..not all motorist care..he didn't,he just left him on the road.

Thank you for your concern Maureen, I too have had motorist come in very close and it can be frighting, I mostly keep off main roads and keep on quiet roads and paths, I live on a main road and the number of high powered cars just screaming up and down at breakneck speeds is all too often, the police could put a patrol car there any day and it would pay for itself and buy 2 more every time it was there, Mostly young un's in Audis, merks, beemers most with loud exhaust pipes, Crying or Very sad

So this is how it works, I paid the £10 on my bus pass to be able to use the trains and trams around Manchester, My bus Pass expired in May, They sent me a new pass but, it has't got the £10 train fare on it, I have to go to a metrolink terminal, anywhere on the tram system, the nearest one is Eccles they tell me,
Can I go to Manchester on the train ?, NO, not till you've validated the Pass,

who thought that one out ?? Mad

It is only since I started following Tom and Fat Mick’s exploits that I noticed how many electric bikes there are around. We walk most days and there are lots with the saddle bags which I presume carry batteries. I don’t know if it is coincidence or an age thing but they seem to be the ones that ride sensibly and obey the rules regarding speed and use of bells.

Yes broady we ,the vintage bikers are considerate to others and use a bell when necessary and a prime example came today, I'm in the lead going down a path, as I'm approaching two dog walkers, one of the dog walkers sees  or hears us coming, he taps the other on the shoulder to warn him,( no need to ring a bell ) we have approached at a sensible speed  and acknowledged them by saying thanks, then the one who did't  hear our approach pipes up , " where's your Effin Bell" ,   you can't please em all,   Crying or Very sad

Earlier on, we are going via shevy up a path, this female jogger was in front gave her a tinkle to let her know we're behind, she said
" c'mon, get passed and stop looking at my arse" Well I was, and if i was't there'd be summut wrong, but we are in pervy micks territory here and he must linger about behind them instead of going past, No

One of the others told me of that app, Strava, I downloaded it and it works good but, you only get 30 days free, then they want £47 a year, which is not too bad for a year but, I don't want to pay it in one payment so. If they'll do it monthly @ £1 a month, I'll do that,

well I'm a pensioner me tha knows, Embarassed

I've just checked, its £4 per month, broady I'm not buying an apple watch, I don't wear any watch and never have, nor any kind of jewelry , pins , pierces or rings although I once thought about, having those eye brow rings in both eye brows, then putting a curtain rail in and curtains, then when i felt tired, I could close the curtains and have a kip. Very Happy

So when folk say “ Tom doesn’t know what time of day it is” they are stating fact and not commenting on your state of mind eh. 😂😂😂. You embrace technology in more ways that many of your ilk but dismiss having a watch.

I just feel its like a bondage thing, like taking a bath with socks on , It just is not comfortable to me and also, Is the time of day that important ? Most people have an idea of their body clock, when to eat, when to sleep etc, Why let a dial on a strap rule your life ?
I've recently found out I have anxiety, I've had it as long as I can remember but, never knew it was an illness, I just got on with life, but I did know having a watch made it worse, So I stopped having a watch and yet was never late for any appointment and never needed an alarm clock to wake me, because something always tells me when to get up,

so my theory is, anxiety is not an illness, its a driving force inside that tells you when to go get um, Neutral
