EVERYBODY from Ashton and Haydock knows who Johnny Picton was!
He lived in Heath Road, with his mum, and rode a 'Jim Soens' racer, with quick-release wheels.
J.P. wore Lycra cycling shorts BEFORE Lycra cycling shorts were invented. (but trackie-bottoms in winter! )
Ask your Boff about him !

They were funky China men,
from a funky China town.
They were chopping them up
and they were chopping them down!

Surely,
'Bicycle, bicycle, bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle, bicycle, bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride my bike
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle, races are coming your way'
Would be a better choice of lyric?

I ran into loads of Lycra Louts around Haigh and Aspull this morning, and I have come too the concloosion that these Lycra wearing nobheads, have had their heads welded to their shoulders, which is why none of them turn their head around, by using their neck, to see what is happening behind them

Fell off the bike today, right into a bed of nettles, that stung, other than that , both bike and rider unharmed,
going bike riding again tomorrow , an orange for the person who guesses where, the Clew is,
A town beginning with the letter B,

Be glad when the snow arrives and the would be Lance Armstrong’s are confined to their sheds. The path we walk daily is, of course, used by cyclists and they are as entitled as those of us walking. However there is a speed limit and I would say 80% exceed it by quite a margin. There is also a by-law stipulating all bikes must have a bell. Again a massive %age ignore it. There was an incident last week where a pedestrian was killed by a cyclist. I don’t know the circumstances so cannot apportion blame.

I got swore at today from a elderly man, he was on a 'shared ' path and walking down the middle, I rang my bell , ding ding, he did not react, so I gave anther Ding ding ding, still no reaction, I'm right behind now and so said, " coming through on your right ", he still never moved so as I went past He said, get on the effin road you bloody nuisance, I was followed by 2 more cyclist all got the same greeting,
he was just a grumpy owd git, some are deaf ,some are daft and some have earphones turned on and have no idea what day it is,
there's nowt so queer as folks, I'm sorry to hear about that cyclist killing a walker, That is something he will have to live with forever no matter who was at fault,

Tom,
Just read a report on the incident. It was two cyclists who crashed into each other on a blind bend. The dead man wasn’t wearing a helmet. He was 65 years old. It was a couple of miles from where we walk. There is a guy passes us at speed on a contraption with one wide wheel. It must be electric as he never moves a muscle as it goes.
