The average wage in 1971 was £28 a week.
It follows that, at those prices, one could buy 175 pints with a weeks wage.
175 pints of John Smith's would cost, today, around £465.
The average wage today is approaching £500 a week, with which, one could buy 188 pints ofJohn Smith's.
It follows, therefore, that one is better off today than we were in 1971. (as long as one drinks John Smith's, laaaaike!)
